Pastoral Prayer for December 26, 2021

PLEASE ALLOW THE WORDS OF THIS PRAYER TO BECOME YOUR OWN

Loving God,

Today I seek not the passing rewards of recognition, power, and wealth,

but your kingdom of love and compassion.

I turn again from self to follow the way of Jesus.

Direct my intentions and energies to the higher, enduring realities of your kingdom, which are springing up all around me, pushing back the darkness.

I deeply desire to discern where your Spirit is moving.

So, Loving God, give me the gift of understanding.

Even as I contemplate the kingdom Jesus came to announce,

I am conscious of my own weakness and need.

I want to stay on your path, but it’s easy to lose my way.

So, Loving God, remind me of the moment I first understood

I was your beloved child.

Remove the scales from my eyes, so that I can better see you.

Thank you, Loving God, that today I am made new in you.
